It's gonna be May

In the words of *Nsync...it's gonna be May! 😀

I blinked and April flew by! Anyone else? This past month took me and my camera to some fun places, and I'd love to share them with you!

The month started with brunch and an egg hunt with the Easter Bunny at the Village at Unity. I love working with this community, and am always so impressed by the energy they put into their events. They consistently create fun and meaningful opportunities for the people who live there to connect with their families and with one another, and I love to capture it--especially Harry the Cat's visit with the Easter Bunny 😻

Next up was an unexpected opportunity to photograph a bilingual production f Aladdin at Eugenio Maria de Hostos Charter School. These kids put so much heart into the show and I'm so glad I got to see it.

I had the opportunity to take headshots at GRAPE's new member orientation, and it was great to see so many new members joining the organization. If you're not familiar with GRAPE and you work with older adults in the Rochester area in any capacity, it's a great group to join! Learn more about GRAPE here, or feel free to reach out to me to hear more. https://www.grapelder.org/

Sweet Home Photography's partnership with Aegeliss continues, and this month I captured a group of friends enjoying puzzles at Fairport Rehab and Nursing, as well as the room signs in use by a volunteer model at the Legacy at Clover Blossom. I'm so grateful for this partnership and am so excited to see Aegeliss expand their reach! https://www.aegeliss.com/

April would not be complete without the annual National Pet Day celebration at Clover Blossom! I love this event so much, not just because I got to pet dogs all day, but because capturing the connections between humans and their pets is so special. To see more furry friends from this event, visit last week's blog! https://www.sweethomephotoroc.com/post/a-different-kind-of-name-tag-identity-through-portraits-and-pets

A huge congratulations to Episcopal Senior Life on the grand opening of their new space at the Episcopal Church Home. It's a beautiful entrance to their community that truly reflects the great work that occurs in the building. I always enjoy working with the Episcopal marketing team--more on some fun collaborations coming later this month!

Photos + tattoos + helping pets...say no more, I'm there! I had a great day photographing the annual "Pokes for Pets" tattoo fundraiser put on by Lollypop Farm's Young Professionals. A huge thank you to the artists at Nightshade Studios, Campfire Tattoo Company, Axe of Kindness, and Heroic Arts for not only raising an impressive $2,626 for animals in need, but for welcoming me into your spaces with such kindness.

One of my favorite roles is volunteer photographer for Honor Flight Rochester, and I got to capture Mission 94's Welcome Home. If you haven't attended a Welcome Home at the airport yet, I highly suggest making an effort to get there. An added bonus at this one was running into a group of friends from the Village at Fairways! The next mission lands on Sunday May17th, and it's a flight of all female veterans! I'll be there capturing the festivity on the lower level. Learn more here: https://honorflightrochester.org/

I was lucky enough to be invited back to Fairport Rehab and Nursing to capture their collaboration with Fairport Central Schools, Bridging Generations. Seeing the elementary students and the residents have so much fun together brought a huge smile to my face, and the genuine happiness on both sides was so much fun to capture.

Last but certainly not least--portraits for the ladies of the Village at Erie Station. I spent an hour set up in their community's living room, and loved every minute of it. What started as a simple portrait session turned into an hour of connection, encouragement, and confidence. A few women even stayed behind to keep me company while I packed up, and I'm grateful for their company!

I'm looking forward to what next month has in store...see you then!
