New year, same values

Welcome to the first of blog post of 2026!

I created this space last year as a way to slow things down and share more of what happens behind the lens, and then life happened. So here we are, starting 2026 with a little less chaos, a little more structure, and a whole lot of excitement for what is coming this year.

I’m Meg, a licensed clinical social worker and photographer based in Rochester, NY. Otherwise known as a ✨photo-therapist.✨ My work sits at the intersection of mental health, aging, and art. Over the years, I’ve seen how powerful it can be when someone feels truly seen—when their story is listened to, and when their experiences are reflected back to them with care. Photography offers a unique way to do that, especially during moments of change like downsizing, loss, or redefining identity in later life.

Sweet Home Photography exists to honor older adults, their stories, and the transitions that shape later life—and this blog exists for the same reason. It’s a place to reflect, to explain the why behind the work, and to explore how photography can be a meaningful tool for connection, healing, and advocacy.

This blog will be a place to share stories from sessions, answer common questions, talk about aging through a more honest and hopeful lens, and offer insight into why images matter—especially for people who are so often overlooked.

My hope is that what you find here feels grounding, encouraging, and human.

Thanks for being here. I’m glad you are, and I hope you’ll stay awhile.

Talk again soon!
