Exciting news!!!

I’m excited to share that Sweet Home Photography has been named a finalist in the Roc the City Choice Awards in the category of “Best Business Making a Positive Social Impact!!” 



I’m SO proud to be featured in this category, and have been reflecting on what social impact really means in the context of this work. 


When people think about photography, they often think about the final images. But for me, the impact lives just as much in the experience of being photographed as it does in the photograph itself. 


On an individual level, I see social impact in the quieter moments, like when someone who feels hesitant about having their picture taken begins to relax, when a story is shared that hasn’t been spoken out loud in a long time, or when a person feels recognized, not just for how they look but for who they are. 


These moments matter, especially when working with older adults—they push back against a culture that often overlooks aging or reduces it to something one-dimensional.

 


On a broader level, social impact looks like changing the narrative. Through portraits, community partnerships, and collaboration with other local organizations, Sweet Home Photography aims to highlight the depth and individuality of older adults in the Rochester area. Capturing candid moments of connection and joy creates an ever-growing gallery of evidence that directly refutes the idea that getting older is all bad. 



I’m incredibly proud to be recognized in this category and to be listed as a business worth knowing in the Rochester community. I’m thankful to live in an area that is rich with resources to support older adults AND business owners alike.
