The sun is finally shining, Rochester! Last month's weather was...less than ideal...but life behind the lens kept things bright over here, despite the rain! Here is a look back at what kept Sweet Home Photography busy in May:

I got to start the month hanging out with my friends Chuck and Gloria at Parklands, taking more product photos for Aegeliss. This was one of my very favorite sessions to date, and if you're curious why, read more here!

Next up: headshots for Willow! I can't wait until she's a big star someday and I can say I got to take her photo before she was famous 🤩 Side note: if you have any need for social media marketing and you don't know her mom, Kaitlin, you're missing out!
I got to capture Chili Recreation's mother-son game night again this year, and, as usual, they put on such a great event! They're celebrating 5 years in this community center this year, and we're lucky to have such a fun and functional space to gather.

I'm always grateful for the opportunity to take headshots for members of GRAPE, and this month GRAPE hosted a workshop on networking led by Amy of Spark Speak. We learned some great strategies to help make new professional connections, create an "elevator pitch" that's actually authentic, and to talk about what we do in different ways based on our audience.
If you haven't been to a Welcome Home ceremony for Honor Flight yet, you might not know what a powerful experience it is. This is my third year as a volunteer photographer for Honor Flight Rochester, and Mission 95 last month was the first ever all-female flight to depart from our area! It's always such a special experience, but this one had a little something extra--I loved being part of honoring these amazing women.
Sweet Home Photography was lucky enough to be invited back to capture the magic that is Encore Chorus, this time for their Spring Concert at Kilbourne Hall! This is a group comprised of individuals living with memory loss, their caregivers, and volunteers, and each cohort rehearses weekly leading up to their performance. Their music is beautiful, and so are the genuine connections between participants.
It's not every day you can say you know someone on a billboard, but now I can! Congratulations to Kayte on being named Tech Rochester's Emerging Tech Woman of the Year!
If you don't know my friend Jen by now, consider yourself introduced 👋🏻 She and I shared an office and job duties as social workers at Pluta Cancer Center years ago and have been connected ever since, and have been on the crazy journey of private practice therapy together over the past year. She recently opened this beautiful space in the village of Geneseo called Livingston County Therapy Collective. To say I'm proud is an understatement, and I'm so glad I got to capture this moment!

I joined the Brighton Chamber of Commerce as an ambassador last year, and it has led to so many nice new connections! It was a pleasure to capture Miss Cynthia of The Refinement Studio last week, and to learn more about the "why" behind what she does.
And last but certainly not least: I wrapped up the month with portraits for the men of the Village of Erie Station. I enjoy these sessions so much, and so appreciate the gentlemen who showed up early, kept me company, and helped me set up. I love hearing their stories and I'm grateful that they invite me back!
Thanks to all who made a dreary May so much fun. See you in June!
